It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Umamah bin Sahl bin Hunayf (i.e., As'ad) that Sayyiduna 'Amir bin Rabi'ah saw Sayyiduna Sahl bin Hunayf while he was bathing and said: "I have never seen a man like you, nor have I seen such skin even on a veiled (never going outside) woman." As soon as he said this, Sayyiduna Sahl (may Allah be pleased with him) fell down at his place (becoming ill). People came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: "O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! Will you not look after Sayyiduna Sahl bin Hunayf (may Allah be pleased with him)? By Allah, he cannot even lift his head." The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "In your opinion, who has cast the evil eye on him?" They said: "Sayyiduna 'Amir bin Rabi'ah (may Allah be pleased with him) has." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) called Sayyiduna 'Amir bin Rabi'ah (may Allah be pleased with him), became angry with him, and said: "Why does one of you kill his brother? Why did you not say «بَارَكَ اللّٰهُ»? Now wash for his sake." Sayyiduna 'Amir (may Allah be pleased with him) washed his face, hands, elbows, knees, the edges of his feet, and the part of his body under the waist-wrapper with water, and collected that water in a vessel. That water was poured over Sayyiduna Sahl (may Allah be pleased with him), and he became well and walked with the people.
