بَابُ مَا جَاءَ فِي تَحْرِيمِ الْمَدِينَةِWhat is reported about the sanctity of Madinah
Hadith 1604
وَحَدَّثَنِي مَالِك، عَنْ يُونُسَ بْنِ يُوسُفَ ، عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ يَسَارٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي أَيُّوبَ الْأَنْصَارِيِّ ، أَنَّهُ وَجَدَ غِلْمَانًا قَدْ أَلْجَئُوا ثَعْلَبًا إِلَى زَاوِيَةٍ فَطَرَدَهُمْ عَنْهُ، قَالَ مَالِك : لَا أَعْلَمُ إِلَّا أَنَّهُ قَالَ : " أَفِي حَرَمِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُصْنَعُ هَذَا ؟ "
Sayyiduna Abu Ayyub Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him) saw some boys who had cornered a fox in one corner, so he drove the boys away and released the fox (because it is forbidden to capture the animals of Madinah, just as in Makkah).
Imam Malik (may Allah have mercy on him) said that Sayyiduna Abu Ayyub (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "Does such an act take place in the sanctuary of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)?"
