Hadith 1587

وَحَدَّثَنِي، عَنْ مَالِك، عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَسْلَمَ ، عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ يَسَارٍ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ سُئِلَ عَنِ الْغُبَيْرَاءِ، فَقَالَ : " لَا خَيْرَ فِيهَا "، وَنَهَى عَنْهَا . قَالَ مَالِك : فَسَأَلْتُ زَيْدَ بْنَ أَسْلَمَ : مَا الْغُبَيْرَاءُ ؟ فَقَالَ : هِيَ الْأُسْكَرْكَةُ .
It is narrated from Ata bin Yasar: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, was asked about the liquor made from «غُبَيْرَاء». He, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "It is not good." And he forbade it. Imam Malik, may Allah have mercy on him, said that then I asked Zaid bin Aslam, may Allah have mercy on him, what is «غُبَيْرَاء»? So he said: It is «سْكَرْكَةُ», that is, liquor made from maize.
