حَدَّثَنِي حَدَّثَنِي مَالِك أَنَّهُ بَلَغَهُ : أَنَّ عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ " قَوَّمَ الدِّيَةَ عَلَى أَهْلِ الْقُرَى : فَجَعَلَهَا عَلَى أَهْلِ الذَّهَبِ أَلْفَ دِينَارٍ، وَعَلَى أَهْلِ الْوَرِقِ اثْنَيْ عَشَرَ أَلْفَ دِرْهَمٍ " .
Sayyiduna Umar bin Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) fixed the value of blood money for the villagers; for those who possessed gold, he set it at one thousand dinars, and for those who possessed silver, he set it at twelve thousand dirhams.
