بَابُ مَا جَاءَ فِي الْإِحْدَادِWhat is Reported Regarding Mourning
Hadith 1245

وَحَدَّثَنِي، عَنْ وَحَدَّثَنِي، عَنْ مَالِكٍ، أَنَّهُ بَلَغَهُ، أَنَّ أُمَّ سَلَمَةَ زَوْجَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، قَالَتْ لِامْرَأَةٍ حَادٍّ عَلَى زَوْجِهَا اشْتَكَتْ عَيْنَيْهَا، فَبَلَغَ ذَلِكَ مِنْهَا : " اكْتَحِلِي بِكُحْلِ الْجِلَاءِ بِاللَّيْلِ، وَامْسَحِيهِ بِالنَّهَارِ "
Sayyida Umm Salama (may Allah be pleased with her) said to a woman who was in mourning for her husband and whose eye was hurting: "At night, apply kohl that brightens the eye, and during the day, wipe it off."
