It is narrated from Ibn Muhairiz that I went to the mosque and saw Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) sitting there. I asked: Is coitus interruptus (azl) permissible? He said: We went with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) to the battle of Banu Mustaliq, where women were captured from the disbelievers. We felt desire and deprivation was difficult for us, and we also wished to sell those women and obtain money. Therefore, we intended to practice azl. Then we thought that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was present. How could we practice azl without asking him? So we asked the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and he said: "There is no harm in practicing azl, because any soul that Allah has decreed to create will surely be created until the Day of Resurrection."
