Hadith 1200

وَحَدَّثَنِي، عَنْ مَالِك، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ سَعِيدٍ ، عَنْ رَجُلٍ مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ، أَنَّ امْرَأَتَهُ سَأَلَتْهُ الطَّلَاقَ، فَقَالَ لَهَا : " إِذَا حِضْتِ فَآذِنِينِي "، فَلَمَّا حَاضَتْ آذَنَتْهُ، فَقَالَ : " إِذَا طَهُرْتِ فَآذِنِينِي "، فَلَمَّا طَهُرَتْ آذَنَتْهُ، فَطَلَّقَهَا . قَالَ مَالِك : وَهَذَا أَحْسَنُ مَا سَمِعْتُ فِي ذَلِكَ
The wife of an Ansari asked her husband for a divorce. He said: When you get your period, inform me. When she got her period, she informed him. He said: When you become pure, inform me. When she became pure and informed him, he then divorced her.
Imam Malik, may Allah have mercy on him, said: I have heard this as good.
