It is narrated from Malik bin Abi Amir Asbahi that he said: I used to see that a mat belonging to Sayyiduna Aqil bin Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him) was spread out under the western wall of the Prophet’s Mosque on Fridays. When the shadow of the wall would cover the entire mat, Sayyiduna Umar bin Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) would come out and lead the Friday prayer. Malik (may Allah have mercy on him) said: After the prayer, we would come and sleep in place of the Duha (forenoon) prayer.

Explanation & Benefits
Hafiz Abu Samee'ah
Benefit:
When standing in the Prophet’s Mosque (Masjid Nabawi) facing the qiblah, the right side is towards the west; on this side is the western wall of the mosque, next to which, inside the mosque, the mat of Hazrat Aqil radi Allahu anhu would be spread. When the sun reached its zenith and began to decline towards the west, its shadow would start to fall upon the mat. Accordingly, after waiting a little longer, Sayyiduna Farooq (Umar) radi Allahu anhu would lead the Friday prayer (Jumu‘ah). Then, those people who, in order to attain the reward and merit of arriving early for the Friday prayer, had forgone their midday meal and siesta (qaylulah), would afterwards go and have their meal and take their siesta.
