It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) passed by a dead goat belonging to the slave of his wife, Sayyidah Maymunah (may Allah be pleased with her). This goat had been given to the slave by the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Why did you not make use of its skin?" They said: "O Messenger of Allah! It is dead." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Eating the dead animal is forbidden."
