بَابُ مَا يَجِبُ مِنَ النُّذُورِ فِي الْمَشْيِChapter on what is required of vows to walk
Hadith 1009
حَدَّثَنِي يَحْيَى، عَنْ مَالِك، عَنْ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُتْبَةَ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، أَنَّ سَعْدَ بْنَ عُبَادَةَ اسْتَفْتَى رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَقَالَ : إِنَّ أُمِّي مَاتَتْ وَعَلَيْهَا نَذْرٌ وَلَمْ تَقْضِهِ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " اقْضِهِ عَنْهَا "
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) that Sayyiduna Sa'd bin Ubadah (may Allah be pleased with him) asked the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) that my mother has passed away and she had a vow due upon her which she did not fulfill. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Fulfill it on her behalf."
