Muwatta Imam Malik (Riwayat Ibn al-Qasim)

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Qatadah bin Rabi’ (may Allah be pleased with him) that a funeral passed by the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and he said: “He is either «مستريح» (at peace and comfort) or «مسترح منه» (one from whom people are at peace and comfort).” The Companions asked: O Messenger of Allah! Who is «مستريح» and who is «مستراح منه»? He (peace and blessings be upon him) replied: “The believing servant attains peace and comfort by moving towards the mercy of Allah from the hardships and difficulties of the world, and from the wicked (sinful) servant, the servants, cities, trees, and animals attain peace and comfort.”
