Hadith 412
And with the same chain of narration, it is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that Sayyiduna Umar bin Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) saw a silk cloth being sold at the door of the mosque and said: O Messenger of Allah! If you would buy it, you could wear it on Fridays and when delegations come to you. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "This is only worn by the one who has no share in the Hereafter." Then, when silk garments were brought to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) (as spoils of war), he gave one of those garments to Sayyiduna Umar bin Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him). Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: O Messenger of Allah! You have given me this garment even though you had said what you said about the cloth of ‘Atarid? The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I did not give it to you to wear." Then Umar bin Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) gave that garment to his polytheist brother in Makkah to wear.
