Prohibition of making nabidh in gourds and jars
Hadith 396
136- مالك عن العلاء بن عبد الرحمن عن أبيه عن أبى هريرة أن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم نهى أن ينبذ فى الدباء والمزفت.
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade making nabidh (fermented drink) in a duba’ (gourd vessel) and a muzaffat (pitch-coated jar).
Hadith 397
248- وبه: أن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم خطب الناس فى بعض مغازيه، فقال عبد الله بن عمر: فأقبلت نحوه، فانصرف قبل أن أبلغه، فسألت ماذا قال: فقالوا: نهى أن ينبذ فى الدباء والمزفت.
And with this same chain (it is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar, may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, delivered a sermon in one of the battles. Abdullah bin Umar, may Allah be pleased with them both, said: I went towards the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, but before I reached, he had already finished the sermon. So I asked: What did the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, say? The people informed me that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, forbade making nabidh (fermented drink) in pumpkin vessels and oil jars.
