Muwatta Imam Malik (Riwayat Ibn al-Qasim)

And with the same chain of narration, it is narrated from (Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah al-Sulami, may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, forbade eating the meat of (sacrifice) after three days of sacrifice. Then after that he said: "Eat, give in charity, take provisions for the journey, and store it."

It is narrated from Abdullah bin Waqid that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, forbade eating the meat of sacrificial animals for more than three days. Abdullah bin Abi Bakr (the narrator of the hadith) says that then I mentioned this to Amrah bint Abdur Rahman (may Allah have mercy on her), so she said: He (Abdullah bin Waqid) has spoken the truth. I heard the wife of the Prophet, Lady Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her), saying that at the time of sacrifice during the time of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, some (Bedouin) people came to Madinah, so the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Store (the meat) for three days and give the rest in charity." After that, it was said to the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him: O Messenger of Allah! People used to benefit from their sacrifices, melt the fat, and make water skins (from the hides). So the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "What is the matter?" The people said: O Messenger of Allah! You forbade keeping the meat of sacrifices for more than three days. So the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "I forbade you because of those people who had come to you (in Madinah). So (now) eat, give in charity, and store (the meat)."
