Muwatta Imam Malik (Riwayat Ibn al-Qasim)

Ziyad bin Abi Sufyan wrote to the wife of the Prophet Muhammad, Lady Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her), that Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with both of them) said: Whoever sends sacrificial animals (towards the House of Allah), then those things become forbidden for him until the sacrifice is performed which are forbidden for a pilgrim, and I have sent sacrificial animals, therefore, write your decision to me or instruct the one who brings sacrificial animals. Umrah (bint Abdur Rahman, may Allah have mercy on her) said: So Lady Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) said: It is not as Ibn Abbas has said. I myself prepared the collars (as a sign of sacrifice) for the sacrificial animals of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) with my own hands, then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) himself put them on. Then he sent them (the animals) with my father (Abu Bakr Siddiq, may Allah be pleased with him) towards the House of Allah, and nothing from the things made lawful by Allah became forbidden for him until the sacrifice was slaughtered.
