And with this same chain of narration, it is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When any one of you is praying, Satan comes to him and casts doubt and suspicion about his prayer until he does not know how much he has prayed. If any one of you finds himself in such a state, then while sitting (at the end of the final Tashahhud), he should perform two prostrations."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Buhaina (may Allah be pleased with him) that (once) the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) led us in two rak‘ahs, then he stood up (and did not sit for tashahhud), so the people also stood up with him. When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) completed the prayer and we began to wait for his salam, he said the takbir and performed two prostrations while sitting before the salam, then he made the salam.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) ended the prayer after two rak‘ahs with salam. Then (a companion) Dhu’l-Yadayn (may Allah be pleased with him) asked him: “O Messenger of Allah! Has the prayer been shortened or did you forget?” The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said (to the people): “Did Dhu’l-Yadayn speak the truth?” The people replied: “Yes!” Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) stood up and led the last two rak‘ahs (of Zuhr or ‘Asr), then he ended the prayer with salam. Then he said takbir and performed a prostration like his usual prostrations or even longer, then (saying takbir) he raised his head, then said takbir and performed another prostration like his usual prostrations or even longer.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) led us in the ‘Asr prayer and ended the prayer with salam after two rak‘ahs. Then Dhu’l-Yadayn (may Allah be pleased with him) stood up and asked: “O Messenger of Allah! Has the prayer been shortened or did you forget?” The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “Neither of these has happened.” Dhu’l-Yadayn said: “O Messenger of Allah! Certainly, one of these two things has happened.” So the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) turned towards the people and asked: “Did Dhu’l-Yadayn speak the truth?” The people said: “Yes.” So the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) completed the remaining prayer, then after the salam, while sitting, performed two prostrations.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Buhaina (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) stood up after two rak'ahs of Zuhr without sitting (for tashahhud). When the prayer was completed, he performed two prostrations and then gave salam after them.
