Hadith 647

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Medina will be abandoned despite being in a good state, until a dog will enter the (mosque) and urinate on some of its pillars or on the pulpit." The people asked: "O Messenger of Allah! For whom will the fruits be at that time?" He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "They will be for the birds and wild animals that roam in search of food."

Jurisprudential Points:
➊ Before the Day of Judgment, a great calamity will befall the people of Madinah, due to which Madinah Tayyibah will (at one time) become deserted.
➋ The entry of dogs into the mosque and their urinating therein is a sign of destruction.
➌ One should make every effort to keep the mosques clean and pure.
➍ The people of Madinah should not leave Madinah without a valid Shar‘i excuse.
➎ In the last era before the Day of Judgment, there will be an abundance of wild animals and birds.
