Muwatta Imam Malik (Riwayat Ibn al-Qasim)

It is narrated from Ubaid bin Juraij (may Allah have mercy on him) that he said to Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them): O Abu Abdur Rahman! I have seen you doing four things which none of your companions do. He asked: O Ibn Juraij! What are those things? I said: During Tawaf, you only touch the two Yemeni corners (the two walls of the Ka'bah that face Yemen), and I have seen you wearing hairless sandals, and I have seen you applying yellow dye, and when you are in Makkah (and) people start saying Talbiyah as soon as they see the (Dhul-Hijjah) moon, whereas you do not say Talbiyah before the Day of Tarwiyah (8th Dhul-Hijjah). Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) said: As for the matter of the corners, I have not seen the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) touch any corner except the two Yemeni corners; as for the hairless sandals, I have seen the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) wear hairless sandals and perform ablution in them, and I like to wear them; as for the yellow dye, I have seen the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) apply this dye, and for this reason I like to apply it; as for saying Talbiyah, I have never seen the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) say Talbiyah before sending off his mount (towards Mina on the 8th of Dhul-Hijjah).
