And with this same chain (it is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "When Allah loves a servant, He says: O Jibril! I love so-and-so, so you also love him. Then Jibril, peace be upon him, loves him. Then he announces among the inhabitants of the heavens: Listen! Indeed, Allah loves so-and-so, so you also love him. Then the inhabitants of the heavens love that person, and then he is granted acceptance (among the believers) on earth. And when (Allah) dislikes a person, then..." Imam Malik said: I think that a similar thing is said regarding dislike as well, that is, Allah dislikes him.

Hadith Authentication (Takhrij al-Hadith): [
Jurisprudential Understanding (Tafaqquh): ➊ Any narrator whom the trustworthy hadith scholars unanimously declare to be reliable (thiqqah) is also beloved and reliable in the sight of Allah. Also see: [صحيح بخاري 1367، وصحيح مسلم 949، دار السلام : 2200] ➋ Any narrator whom the trustworthy hadith scholars unanimously declare to be weak (da‘if) and criticized (majruh), then that narrator is, in reality and essence, weak and criticized, and every narration of his is rejected, except if a trustworthy and highly reliable (saduq) narrator corroborates him. ➌ For further details regarding the love of Allah, see: 2562] ➍ Loving is one of the attributes of Allah, belief in which is obligatory, and its modality is unknown (bi-la kayf). ➎ The only means of attaining the love of Allah is acting upon the Book and the Sunnah.
