460- وبه: أن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم رأى فى جدار القبلة بصاقا أو مخاطا أو نخامة فحكه.
And with the same chain of narration (from Sayyidah Aisha, may Allah be pleased with her), it is narrated that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, saw spit or phlegm on the wall facing the qiblah, so he scraped it off (and cleaned it).

Takhrij al-Hadith:
[وأخرجه البخاري 407، ومسلم 549، من حديث مالك به]
Jurisprudential Points:
➊ One should, as much as possible, rectify matters that are contrary to the Book and the Sunnah.
➋ Cleaning the mosque is a Sunnah.
➌ The Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) was extremely compassionate towards his ummah.
➍ One should always be mindful of personal cleanliness.
➎ Cleaning the mosque does not diminish one’s honor; rather, it is a source of dignity. Also see: [الموطأ حديث : 205]
