Jurisprudential Explanation:
➊ If a person wishes to enter the house of a relative or friend, etc., he should seek permission three times. Only after permission is granted may he enter the house. However, it should be remembered that there is no need to seek permission to enter one's own personal house, unless there is a valid Shar‘i excuse.
➋ In the aforementioned narration, the trustworthy (thiqah) refers to Makhramah ibn Bukayr ibn ‘Abdullah ibn al-Ashbah, who generally narrated from his father's book. Narrating from a book is, according to the preferred opinion, valid, unless there is evidence establishing an exception.
➌ In the religion of Islam, the protection of every person's honor and private life is ensured to the highest degree.
➍ Allah, the Exalted, says: O you who believe! Do not enter houses other than your own houses until you have asked permission and greeted their inhabitants; that is better for you, so that you may take heed. [سورة النور : 27] The above hadith is an explanation of this noble verse.
