One should treat children equally
Hadith 475
33- مالك: حدثني ابن شهاب عن حميد بن عبد الرحمن بن عوف وعن محمد بن النعمان بن بشير يحدثانه عن النعمان بن بشير أنه قال: إن أباه أتى به إلى رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم فقال: إني نحلت ابني هذا غلاما كان لي، فقال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: ”أكل ولدك نحلته مثل هذا؟“ فقال: لا، فقال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم، ”فارجعه.“
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Nu'man bin Bashir (may Allah be pleased with him) that his father took him to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: I have given this son of mine a slave as a gift of my own will. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: "Have you given all your children slaves as gifts in the same way?" So he (the father of Nu'man bin Bashir, may Allah be pleased with him) replied: No. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Then take (the slave) back."
