It is narrated from Urwah bin Zubair (may Allah have mercy on him) that I was sitting (there) when Sayyiduna Usama bin Zaid (may Allah be pleased with him) was asked how the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to walk during the return from Arafat in the Farewell Pilgrimage. He replied: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) would walk briskly and with wide steps, and when he found an open space, he would walk even faster. Hisham (bin Urwah, the narrator of the hadith) said: "Anaq" is less than "nas" (in speed; "nas" means walking even faster).

Hadith Authentication (Takhrij al-Hadith): [وأخرجه البخاري 1666، من حديث مالك به]
Jurisprudential Points (Tafaqquh): ➊ While returning from ‘Arafat towards Muzdalifah, one should walk briskly as much as possible, provided that it does not cause hardship to other pilgrims. ➋ Sayyiduna Abdullah ibn Umar radi Allahu anhu used to pass quickly through the Valley of Muhassir. See: [الموطأ 1 / 392 ح905 وسنده صحيح]
Note (Tanbih): On the day of returning from ‘Arafat, the Maghrib and ‘Isha prayers should not be performed in ‘Arafat, but rather in Muzdalifah, as is established from the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam.
