Warning Against Taking Back Charity
Hadith 286
214- وبه: أن عمر بن الخطاب حمل على فرس عتيق فى سبيل الله، فوجده يباع، فأراد أن يبتاعه فسأل رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم عن ذلك، فقال: ”لا تبتعه ولا تعد فى صدقتك.“
And with this same chain (it is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar, may Allah be pleased with him) that Sayyiduna Umar bin Khattab, may Allah be pleased with him, gave a very fine horse in charity in the way of Allah. Then he saw that the horse was being sold, so he intended to buy it. Then he asked the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, about it. So the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Do not buy it, and do not take back your charity."
