437- وعنه أنه سمع أبا بكر بن عبد الرحمن يقول: كنت أنا وأبي عند مروان ابن الحكم وهو أمير المدينة، فذكر له أن أبا هريرة يقول: من أصبح جنبا أفطر ذلك اليوم، فقال مروان: أقسمت عليك يا أبا عبد الرحمن، لتذهبن إلى أمي المؤمنين عائشة وأم سلمة فلتسألنهما عن ذلك، قال: فذهب عبد الرحمن وذهبت معه حتى دخلنا على عائشة، فسلم عليها عبد الرحمن ثم قال: يا أم المؤمنين، إنا كنا عند مروان بن الحكم، فذكر له أن أبا هريرة يقول، من أصبح جنبا أفطر ذلك اليوم، فقالت عائشة: ليس كما قال أبو هريرة يا عبد الرحمن، أترغب عما كان رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم يصنع؟، فقال عبد الرحمن: لا والله، فقالت: فاشهد على رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم أن كان ليصبح جنبا من جماع غير احتلام ثم يصوم ذلك اليوم؛ قال: ثم خرجنا حتى دخلنا على أم سلمة فسألها، فقالت كما قالت عائشة: قال: فخرجنا حتى جئنا مروان بن الحكم فذكر له عبد الرحمن ما قالتا، فقال له مروان: أقسمت عليك يا أبا محمد، لتركبن دابتي فإنها بالباب، فلتذهبن إلى أبى هريرة فإنه بأرضه بالعقيق فلتخبرنه ذلك، قال: فركب، عبد الرحمن وركبت معه حتى أتينا أبا هريرة، فتحدث معه عبد الرحمن ساعة ثم ذكر ذلك له، فقال أبو هريرة: لا علم لي بذلك، إنما أخبرنيه مخبر.
It is narrated from Abu Bakr bin Abdur Rahman (may Allah have mercy on him) that both my father and I were sitting with Marwan bin Hakam during the days when he was the governor of Madinah. Marwan was informed that Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) says: Whoever wakes up in the state of major ritual impurity (janabah), his fast is broken. Marwan said: O Abu Abdur Rahman! I adjure you to go to Umm al-Mu’minin Aisha and Umm al-Mu’minin Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with them) and ask them about this issue. Then (my father) Abdur Rahman and I both went until we reached Lady Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her). Abdur Rahman greeted her and then said: O Umm al-Mu’minin! We were with Marwan bin Hakam when he was informed that Abu Hurairah says: Whoever wakes up in the state of major ritual impurity, his fast is broken. Lady Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) said: O Abdur Rahman! It is not as Abu Hurairah has said. Will you turn away from the practice that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to do? Abdur Rahman said: By Allah, never! So she said: I bear witness upon the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) that he would wake up in the state of major ritual impurity, not due to a wet dream, and would then fast that day. Then we left from there and went to Lady Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) and asked her about this issue, and she gave the same answer as Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) had given. Then we left from there and went to Marwan bin Hakam, and Abdur Rahman informed him that Aisha and Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with them) had said this. Marwan said: O Abu Muhammad! I adjure you to ride my animal which is standing outside the door, then go to Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) and inform him of this; he is at his land in Aqiq. Then (my father) Abdur Rahman and I rode and went to Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him). Abdur Rahman conversed with him for a while and then informed him of this. Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I have no personal knowledge of this; I was only informed of this by a narrator (i.e., Sayyiduna Fadl bin Abbas, may Allah be pleased with him).
