435- وبه أن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم قال: ”السفر قطعة من العذاب يمنع أحدكم نومه وطعامه وشرابه فإذا قضى أحدكم نهمته من وجهه فليعجل إلى أهله .“
And with the same chain of narration, it is narrated from (Sayyiduna Abu Huraira, may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Travel is a portion of torment; it deprives a person of his sleep, food, and drink. So when someone has fulfilled his purpose (of travel), he should hasten to return home."

Jurisprudential Explanation (Tafaqquh): ➊ Generally, one has to face many hardships during travel; therefore, it has been described as a portion of torment. ➋ Exercising patience over hardships is the way of the people of faith. ➌ In some narrations it is mentioned: «سافروا تصحوا» "Travel and you will become healthy." For example, see: [التمهيد 22/37] All these narrations are weak and rejected. For instance, in one narration, Abu Alqamah Abdullah bin Isa al-Farwi al-Madani al-Asam is severely weak; in another, Muhammad bin Abdur Rahman bin Raddad al-Madani is weak; in a third, Qasim bin Abdur Rahman al-Ansari is severely weak. See [لسان الميزان 4/462] and its chain of transmission is also not established. ➍ Without a legal excuse (shar‘i ‘udhr) and appropriate reasons, one should not stay outside the home. ➎ Sleep, food and drink, and rest and tranquility are among the great blessings of Allah Ta‘ala, and whoever is granted these things is under Allah’s special mercy.
