Prayer Should Be Performed with Humility and Devotion
Hadith 188
404- مالك عن علقمة بن أبى علقمة عن أمه عن عائشة أم المؤمنين أنها قالت: أهدى أبو جهم بن حذيفة لرسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم خميصة شامية لها علم، فشهد فيها الصلاة، فلما انصرف قال: ”ردي هذه الخميصة إلى أبى جهم، فإني نظرت إلى علمها فى الصلاة فكاد يفتنني.“
It is narrated from Umm al-Mu'minin Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that Abu Juham bin Hudhayfah (may Allah be pleased with him) presented to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) a Syrian cloak which had designs on it. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came to pray in it, then after the salam he said: "Return this cloak to Abu Juham, for I looked at its designs during the prayer and it nearly distracted me from my humility."
