Hadith 85
ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ حَاتِمٍ الْبَزَّاز ، ثنا جَعْفَرُ بْنُ عَوْنٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي عُمَيْسٍ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ أَبَا بَكْرِ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي جَهْمٍ الْقُرَشِيَّ ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُتْبَةَ ، أَنَّ الْوَلِيدَ بْنَ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ كَتَبَ كِتَابًا إِلَى عُمَرَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ يَأْمُرُهُ أَنْ يَسْأَلَ فُقَهَاءَ مِنْ قِبَلِهِ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْمَدِينَةِ عَنْ صَلاةِ الْخَوْفِ ، فَأَرْسَلَ عُمَرُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ إِلَى فُقَهَائِهِمْ يَسْأَلُهُمْ . قَالَ : فَجَاءَ عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُتْبَةَ ، وَقَدِ اخْتَلَفَ الْقَوْمُ عَلَيْهِ ، فَقَالَ : دَعْ مَا يَقُولُ هَؤُلاءِ ، حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عَبَّاسٍ رضي الله عَنْهُ ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " صَلَّى بِالنَّاسِ صَلاةَ الْخَوْفِ ، فَصَلَّى بِطَائِفَةٍ مِنْهُمْ رَكْعَةً ، فَاسْتَقْبَلُوا الْعَدُوَّ ، ثُمَّ جَاءَتِ الطَّائِفَةُ الأُخْرَى فَصَلَّوْا مَعَهُ الرَّكْعَةَ الأُخْرَى ، ثُمَّ جَلَسَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَتَشَهَّدَ وَسَلَّمَ " ، فَكَانَتْ لِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ رَكْعَتَانِ ، وَلِلنَّاسِ رَكْعَةٌ .
It is narrated from Ubaidullah bin Abdullah bin Utbah that Walid bin Abdul Malik wrote a letter to Umar bin Abdul Aziz, may Allah have mercy on him, in which he ordered him to ask the jurists of Madinah about the prayer of fear. Umar bin Abdul Aziz, may Allah have mercy on him, asked the jurists of Madinah about the issue. Ubaidullah bin Abdullah said that Ubaidullah bin Utbah came while people had different opinions on this issue, so he said, "Leave their statements aside, Abdullah bin Abbas, may Allah be pleased with him, narrated a hadith to me: Indeed, the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, led the companions in the prayer of fear. He led one group among them in one rak'ah, while the other group stood facing the enemy. Then the second group came and they performed the second rak'ah with him. Then the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, sat, recited the tashahhud, and said the salam. In this way, the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, performed two rak'ahs and the companions performed one rak'ah each."
