Ibn Shihab (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates: Umar bin Abdul Aziz (may Allah have mercy on him) sent a messenger to me during his caliphate and said: Saeed bin Khalid bin Amr bin Uthman came to me and said, "O Commander of the Faithful, allot me a pasture. It has reached me that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: 'Whoever plants a fruit-bearing tree, Allah the Exalted grants him a reward equal to the fruit and produce of that tree.'" And he asked me emphatically: "Have you heard this hadith?" So I said: "Yes! And I bear witness upon Ata bin Yazid that he heard this hadith from Abu Ayyub (may Allah be pleased with him), who narrates it from the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him)."
