أَخْبَرَنِي أَخْبَرَنِي أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْكُرُوخِيُّ ، وَكَتَبَ بِهِ إِلَيَّ ، حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ ، حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ بْنِ أَسْلَمَ بْنِ عَاصِمٍ ، عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ سَلْمَى مَوْلاةَ مَرْوَانَ بْنِ الْحَكَمِ ، تَقُولُ حَدَّثَنِي مَرْوَانُ بْنُ الْحَكَمِ ، يَقُولُ : سَمِعْتُ مُعَاوِيَةَ بْنَ أَبِي سُفْيَانَ ، يَقُولُ : سَمِعْتُ أُمِّي هِنْدَ بِنْتَ عُتْبَةَ ، تَقُولُ وَهِيَ تَذْكُرُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، تَقُولُ : " فَعَلْتُ يَوْمَ أُحُدٍ مَا فَعَلْتُ مِنَ الْمُثْلَةِ بِعَمِّهِ وَأَصْحَابِهِ ، كُلَّمَا سَارَتْ قُرَيْشٌ مَسِيرًا ، فَأَنَا مَعَهَا بِنَفْسِي ، حَتَّى رَأَيْتُ فِي النَّوْمِ ثَلاثَ لَيَالٍ ، رَأَيْتُ كَأَنِّي فِي ظُلْمَةٍ لا أُبْصِرُ سَهْلا وَلا جَبَلا ، وَأَرَى أَنَّ تِلْكَ الظُّلْمَةَ انْفَرَجَتْ عَنِّي بِضَوْءٍ مَكَانَهُ ، فَإِذَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَدْعُونِي ، ثُمَّ رَأَيْتُ فِي اللَّيْلَةِ الثَّانِيَةِ كَأَنِّي عَلَى طَرِيقٍ ، وَإِذَا بِهُبَلَ عَنْ يَمِينِي يَدْعُونِي ، وَإِذَا إِسَافٌ يَدْعُونِي عَنْ يَسَارِي ، وَإِذَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بَيْنَ يَدَيَّ قَالَ : " تَعَالَى ، هَلُمِّي إِلَى الطَّرِيقِ " . ثُمَّ رَأَيْتُ اللَّيْلَةَ الثَّالِثَةَ كَأَنِّي وَاقِفَةٌ عَلَى شَفِيرِ جَهَنَّمَ ، يُرِيدُونَ أَنْ يَدْفَعُونِي فِيهَا ، وَإِذَا بِهُبَلَ يَقُولُ : ادْخُلِي فِيهَا ، فَالْتَفَتُّ فَإِذَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِنْ وَرَائِي آخِذٌ بِثِيَابِي ، فَتَبَاعَدْتُ عَنْ شَفِيرِ جَهَنَّمَ ، وَفَزِعْتُ ، فَقُلْتُ : هَذَا شَيْءٌ قَدْ بُيِّنَ لِي ، فَغَدَوْتُ إِلَى صَنَمٍ فِي بَيْتِنَا ، فَجَعَلْتُ أَضْرِبُهُ وَأَقُولُ : طَالَمَا كُنْتُ مِنْكَ فِي غُرُورٍ ، وَأَتَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَأَسْلَمْتُ وَبَايَعْتُ " .
Sayyiduna Muawiyah bin Sufyan (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: I heard my mother, Hind bint Utbah (may Allah be pleased with her), mentioning the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and she was saying: On the day of the Battle of Uhud, I mutilated the uncle and companions of the Prophet (peace be upon him). When the Quraysh returned at night, I was with them. I saw a dream for three consecutive nights: I saw that I was in darkness and could not see anything. Suddenly, the darkness was dispelled by light, and I saw the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) calling me. Then, on the second night, I saw that I was on a path, and on my right side was "Hubal" and on my left side was "Isaf," calling me, and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was in front of me, and he said: Come, come to this path. Then, on the third night, I saw that I was standing at the edge of Hell, and its keepers wanted to throw me into it, and Hubal was saying: Enter into it. I turned and saw that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was standing behind me, holding my clothes, and I moved away from the pit of Hell. I was frightened and said: The truth and falsehood have been made clear to me. In the morning, I went to the idol in my house and broke it, and while breaking it, I was saying: For how long have I been deceived about you! Then I came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), accepted Islam, and pledged allegiance to him.
