حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ الدَّوْرَقِيُّ ، ثنا يُونُسُ بْنُ مُوسَى ، ثنا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ حَمَّادٍ أَبُو مُحَمَّدٍ الْكُرَيْزِيُّ ، ثنا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْعَدَوِيُّ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ عُمَرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ , يَقُولُ عَلَى الْمِنْبَرِ : حَدَّثَنَا عُبَادَةُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، عَنْ طَلْحَةَ بن عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ عَلَى الْمِنْبَرِ : " أَلا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ ، تُوبُوا إِلَى رَبِّكُمْ قَبْلَ أَنْ تَمُوتُوا ، وَبَادِرُوا بِالأَعْمَالِ الصَّالِحَةِ قَبْلَ أَنْ تَشْتَغِلُوا ، وَصِلُوا الَّذِي بَيْنَكُمْ وَبَيْنَ رَبِّكُمْ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ بِكَثْرَةِ ذِكْرِكُمْ لَهُ ، وَكَثْرَةِ الصَّدَقَةِ فِي السِّرِّ وَالْعَلانِيَةِ ، تَزْهَدُوا وَتُؤْجَرُوا وَتُنْصَرُوا ، وَاعْلَمُوا أَنَّ اللَّهَ تَعَالَى فَرَضَ عَلَيْكُمُ الْجُمُعَةَ فِي مَقَامِي هَذَا ، فِي يَوْمِي هَذَا ، فِي شَهْرِي هَذَا ، مِنْ عَامِي هَذَا إِلَى يَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ ، فَمَنْ تَرَكَهَا فِي حَيَاتِي أَوْ بَعْدَ مَوْتِي وَلَهُ إِمَامٌ فَلا جَمَعَ اللَّهُ شَمْلَهُ ، أَلا فَلا بَارَكَ اللَّهُ لَهُ فِي أَمْرِهِ ، أَلا وَلا بِرَّ لَهُ ، أَلا وَلا صَوْمَ لَهُ ، أَلا وَلا صَلاةَ لَهُ ، أَلا وَلا تَؤُمُّ امْرَأَةٌ رَجُلا ، وَلا يَؤُمُّ أَعْرَابِيٌّ مُهَاجِرًا ، أَلا وَلا يَؤُمُّ فَاجِرٌ مُؤْمِنًا ، إِلا أَنْ يَقْهَرَهُ سُلْطَانٌ يَخَافُ سَيْفَهُ وَسَوْطَهُ " .
Talhah bin Ubaidullah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) delivering a sermon on the pulpit: Beware, O people! Seek forgiveness from your Lord for your sins before death comes, and hasten to do righteous deeds before you become preoccupied. Strengthen the relationship between you and your Lord with abundant remembrance and frequent charity, both secretly and openly. Adopt indifference towards the world, earn reward, help others, and know! Indeed, Allah the Exalted has made Friday obligatory upon you, from the place where I am standing, on this day of mine, in this month of mine, in this year of mine, until the Day of Resurrection. Whoever abandons it during my lifetime or after my death, while he has an Imam, Allah will not gather his scattered affairs, Allah will not bless his matters, none of his good deeds will be accepted, neither his fasting nor his prayer. Beware! No woman should lead a man, no Bedouin should lead a Muhajir, and no wicked person should lead a believer in prayer, except if he is compelled by a ruler whose sword and whip he fears.
