Hadith 84

حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامُ بْنُ عَمَّارٍ الدِّمَشْقِيُّ ، ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ حَمْزَةَ ، ثنا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ عُمَرَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ مَوْهَبٍ يُحَدِّثُ عُمَرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ ، عَنْ قَبِيصَةَ بْنِ ذُؤَيْبٍ ، عَنْ تَمِيمٍ الدَّارِيِّ ، قَالَ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، مَا السُّنَّةُ فِي الرَّجُلِ الْكَافِرِ يُسْلِمُ عَلَى يَدَيِ الْمُسْلِمِ ؟ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " هُوَ أَوْلَى النَّاسِ بِهِ حَيَاتَهُ وَمَمَاتَهُ " ، قَالَ عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ عُمَرَ : وَشَهِدْتُ عُمَرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ قَضَى بِذَلِكَ فِي رَجُلٍ أَسْلَمَ عَلَى يَدَيْ رَجُلٍ ، فَمَاتَ وَتَرَكَ مَالا وَابْنَةً ، فَأَعْطَى عُمَرُ ابْنَتَهُ النِّصْفَ ، وَالَّذِي أَسْلَمَ عَلَى يَدَيْهِ النِّصْفَ .
It is narrated from Hazrat Tamim Dari (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said, "O Messenger of Allah! If a disbeliever accepts Islam at the hand of a Muslim, what is the procedure?" The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "He is more entitled to him in his life and after his death." Abdul Aziz bin Umar said, "I was present with Umar bin Abdul Aziz (may Allah have mercy on him), and regarding the man who accepted Islam at the hand of another man and then died, leaving behind a daughter as heir along with wealth, Umar (may Allah have mercy on him) gave half of the wealth to his daughter and half to the one at whose hand he had accepted Islam."
