Abandoning obedience to Muslim rulers or the community explained
Hadith 883
أَخْبَرَنَا وَهْبُ بْنُ جَرِيرٍ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي قَالَ،: سَمِعْتُ غَيْلَانَ بْنَ جَرِيرٍ، يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ أَبِي قَيْسِ بْنِ رَبَاحٍ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ: ((مَنْ خَرَجَ مِنَ الطَّاعَةِ وَفَارَقَ الْجَمَاعَةَ مَاتَ مِيتَةً جَاهِلِيَّةً، وَمَنْ قَاتَلَ تَحْتَ رَايَةٍ عِمِّيَّةٍ يَغْضَبُ لِلْعَصَبِيَّةٍ وَيَدْعُو لِلْعَصَبِيَّةِ فَمَاتَ مَاتَ مِيتَةً جَاهِلِيَّةً، وَمَنْ خَرَجَ عَلَى أُمَّتِي يَضْرِبُ بَرَّهَا وَفَاجِرَهَا لَا يَتَحَاشَى عَنْ مُؤْمِنِهَا وَلَا يَفِي لِأَهْلِ عَهْدِهَا فَلَيْسُوا مِنِّي وَلَسْتُ مِنْهُمْ)) .
Sayyiduna Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: “Whoever departs from obedience and separates from the community dies the death of ignorance. Whoever fights under a blind banner, becoming angry for the sake of tribalism, calling towards tribalism, and is killed, then he dies the death of ignorance. And whoever rebels against my Ummah, striking the righteous and the wicked among them, not sparing a believer due to his faith, nor honoring any covenant with a covenant-holder, then he is not from me, and I am not from him.”
Hadith 884
أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، نا مَعْمَرٌ، عَنْ أَيُّوبَ، عَنْ غَيْلَانَ بْنِ جَرِيرٍ، عَنْ زِيَادِ بْنِ رَبَاحٍ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: ((مَنْ خَرَجَ مِنَ الطَّاعَةِ، وَفَارَقَ الْجَمَاعَةَ، فَمَاتَ مَاتَ مِيتَةً جَاهِلِيَّةً، وَمَنْ خَرَجَ عَلَى أُمَّتِي بِسَيْفِهِ يَضْرِبُ بَرَّهَا وَفَاجِرَهَا لَا يَتَحَاشَى مُؤْمِنًا لِإِيمَانِهِ وَلَا يَفِي لِذِي عَهْدٍ بِعَهْدِهِ فَلَيْسَ مِنْ أُمَّتِي، وَمَنْ قُتِلَ تَحْتَ رَايَةٍ عِمِّيَّةٍ يَغْضَبُ لِلْعَصَبِيَّةِ وَيُقَاتِلُ لِلْعَصَبِيَّةِ وَيَدْعُو لِلْعَصَبِيَّةِ فَمَاتَ مَاتَ مِيتَةً جَاهِلِيَّةً)) .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever withdraws from obedience and separates from the congregation dies the death of ignorance, and whoever takes up the sword against my Ummah, striking the righteous and the wicked alike, and does not honor the covenant of anyone who has a covenant, he is not from my Ummah. And whoever is killed under a blind banner, showing anger for tribalism, fighting for tribalism, and calling towards tribalism, if he dies, he dies the death of ignorance."
