Resolution of disputes over ownership
Hadith 882
أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ الصَّمَدُ، نا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، عَنِ النَّضْرِ بْنِ أَنَسٍ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ - رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ - أَنَّ رَجُلَيْنِ، ادَّعَيَا دَابَّةً فَأَقَامَ كُلُّ وَاحِدٍ مِنْهُمَا شَاهِدَيْنِ، ((فَقَضَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بَيْنَهُمَا نِصْفَيْنِ)).
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, that two men claimed ownership of a livestock animal and both presented two witnesses each. So, the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, decided that it should be divided equally between them.
