Hadith 847
Asim bin Kulayb narrated: My father told me that I was sitting with Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) in the mosque of Kufa, when a man came to him and said: "You say that you will pray with ‘Isa ibn Maryam (peace be upon him)?" He replied: "O people of Iraq! I knew that you would not think well of me, but this does not prevent me from telling you what the truthful and trusted Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) told us: 'The Dajjal will appear from the east among a group of people and will travel everywhere in forty days. He will make every effort to overpower the believers. In that era, the believers will suffer from famine. Then ‘Isa ibn Maryam (peace be upon him) will descend and he will lead them in prayer. When he raises his head from bowing, Allah Almighty will destroy the Dajjal and his companions.' As for my saying that it is true, it is because the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: 'It is true.' As for my saying: I hope that I will reach that time, it may be that I do reach it. You see the whiteness in my hair, the weakness in my body, and my old age. May Allah have mercy on me, if I reach them and pray with him (‘Isa, peace be upon him). Go back to your people and tell them what Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) has told you about this." The man asked: "Where will this be?" So he picked up some pebbles from the mosque and said: "From here." The man repeated the question, so he said: "Do you want me to say from the mosque of Kufa? He will emerge from the earth, before it is changed (i.e., before the Day of Resurrection), and Allah will make it wherever He wills."
