Signs of the nearness of the Hour
Hadith 844
أَخْبَرَنَا النَّضْرُ، نا عَوْفٌ، عَنْ خِلَاسِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ، عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: ((لَا تَقُومُ السَّاعَةُ حَتَّى تُقَاتِلُوا قَوْمًا يَنْتَعِلُونَ الشَّعْرَ، وَحَتَّى تُقَاتِلُوا قَوْمًا عِرَاضَ الْوُجُوهِ خُنْسَ الْأُنُوفِ كَأَنَّ وُجُوهَهُمُ الْمَجَانُّ الْمُطْرَقَةُ)) .
Sayyiduna Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), he said: "The Hour will not be established until you fight against people whose shoes will be made of hair, and you will fight against people whose faces will be broad and noses flat, as if their faces are like layered shields."
Hadith 845
أَخْبَرَنَا جَرِيرٌ، عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ أَبِي خَالِدٍ، عَنْ قَيْسِ بْنِ أَبِي حَازِمٍ، قَالَ: كُنْتُ جَالِسًا عِنْدَ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ، فَقَالَ رَجُلٌ: إِنَّ هَؤُلَاءِ أَقْرِبَائِي يُسَلِّمُونَ عَلَيْكَ وَيَسْأَلُونَكَ أَنْ تُحَدِّثَهُمْ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: صَحِبْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ثَلَاثَ سِنِينَ وَلَمْ أَكُنْ سَنَوَاتٍ أَعْقَلَ مِنِّي فِيهِنَّ وَلَا أَجْدَرَ أَنْ أَعِيَ مَا سَمِعْتُ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِنِّي فِيهِنَّ، سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ: ((تُقَاتِلُونَ قَوْمًا قُرَيْبَ السَّاعَةِ نِعَالُهُمُ الشَّعْرُ وَتُقَاتِلُونَ قَوْمًا خُلُسَ الْوُجُوهِ صِغَارَ الْأَعْيُنِ، كَأَنَّ وَجُوهَهُمُ الْمَجَانُّ الْمُطْرَقَةُ، وَالَّذِي نَفْسُ مُحَمَّدٍ بِيَدِهِ لَأَنْ يَحْتَطِبَ أَحَدُكُمْ عَلَى ظَهْرِهِ فَيَبِيعَهُ فَيَسْتَغْنِي بِهِ وَيَتَصَدَّقَ مِنْهُ وَيَأْكُلَ خَيْرٌ لَهُ مِنْ أَنْ يَأْتِيَ رَجُلًا فَيَسَأَلَهُ لَعَلَّهُ أَنْ يُؤْتِيَهُ أَوْ يَمْنَعَهُ ذَلِكَ فَإِنَّ الْيَدَ الْعُلْيَا خَيْرٌ مِنَ الْيَدِ السُّفْلَى، وَابْدَأْ بِمَنْ تَعُولُ، وَلَخُلُوفُ فَمِ الصَّائِمِ أَطْيَبُ عِنْدَ اللَّهِ مِنْ رِيحِ الْمِسْكَ)) .
Sayyiduna Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "Near the Day of Judgment, you will fight against a people whose shoes will be made of hair; you will fight against a people whose faces will be flat, their eyes small, as if their faces are like folded shields. By the One in whose hand is the life of Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him)! If any one of you were to carry a bundle of wood on his back, sell it, become self-sufficient through it, give charity from it, and eat from it, that would be better for him than going to someone and asking him, whether he gives or withholds. The upper hand is better than the lower hand, and begin spending on those under your care. The smell from the mouth of a fasting person is better with Allah than the fragrance of musk."
Hadith 846
أَخْبَرَنَا يَعْلَى بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ، نا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ أَبِي خَالِدٍ، عَنْ قَيْسِ بْنِ أَبِي حَازِمٍ، قَالَ: لَمَّا قَدِمَ أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ مَعَ مُعَاوِيَةَ أَتَيْنَاهُ فَدَخَلْنَا عَلَيْهِ، فَقَالُوا لَهُ: إِنَّ هَؤُلَاءِ أَتَوْكَ يَسْأَلُونَكَ أَنْ تُحَدِّثَهُمْ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَذَكَرَ مِثْلَهُ، وَقَالَ: ((حُمْرُ الْوُجُوهِ صِغَارُ الْأَعْيُنِ)) ، وَقَالَ: ((خِلْفَةُ فَمِ الصَّائِمِ)).
Qais bin Abu Hazim narrated: When Sayyiduna Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) came with Sayyiduna Muawiyah (may Allah be pleased with him), we presented ourselves before them. So we went to them, and they said to him: These people have come to you so that you may narrate to them a hadith from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). So he mentioned a narration similar to the previous one, and he stated: "Those with red faces, small eyes." And he said: "The smell from the mouth of the fasting person."
