Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: “The right of hospitality is three days; whatever is beyond that is charity. And it is not lawful for the guest to stay on after that so as to cause harm to the household.” And I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: “Whoever supplicates to Allah, He accepts his supplication: either He grants him what he asked for quickly, or He forgives his sins in proportion to his supplication.” Provided he does not supplicate for a sin or for severing ties of kinship, and he does not hasten. It was asked: O Messenger of Allah! How does he hasten? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “He says: I supplicated to my Lord, but He did not accept my supplication, or I am not in need of anything.”
