Description of adopting the Prophet's ﷺ kunya (title)
Hadith 765
أَخْبَرَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ آدَمَ، نا شَرِيكٌ، عَنْ سَلْمِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ النَّخَعِيِّ، عَنْ أَبِي زُرْعَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ، عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: ((مَنْ تَسَمَّى بِاسْمِي فَلَا يُكَنِّي بِكُنْيَتِي، وَمَنِ اكْتَنَى بِكُنْيَتِي فَلَا يَتَسَمَّ بِاسْمِي)) .
Sayyiduna Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), he (peace be upon him) said: "Whoever names (his child) after my name, then he should not take my kunyah, and whoever takes my kunyah, then he should not name (his child) after my name."
