Seeing the Prophet ﷺ in a dream explained
Hadith 745
أَخْبَرَنَا الْمَخْزُومِيُّ، نا عَبْدُ الْوَاحِدِ بْنُ زِيَادٍ، نا عَاصِمُ بْنُ كُلَيْبٍ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ يَقُولُ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: ((مَنْ رَآنِي فِي الْمَنَامِ فَقَدْ رَآنِي؛ لِأَنَّ الشَّيْطَانَ لَا يَتَمَثَّلُ بِي)) ، قَالَ أَبِي: فَحَدَّثْتُ ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا بِذَلِكَ وَقُلْتُ: إِنِّي قَدْ رَأَيْتُهُ، قَالَ: أَفَذَكَرْتَ الْحَسَنَ بْنَ عَلِيٍّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا، فَقُلْتُ: إِي وَاللَّهِ وَنَفْسَهُ فِي مَشْيِهِ، فَقَالَ: إِنَّهُ كَانَ يُشْبِهُهُ.
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever saw me in a dream has indeed seen me, for Satan cannot take my form." Kulayb says: I narrated this hadith to Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) and I said: Indeed, I have seen the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) in a dream. So he said: Do you remember the martyrdom of Hasan bin Ali (may Allah be pleased with them both)? I said: Yes, by Allah! I even remember his gait. Then he said: Indeed, Hasan (may Allah be pleased with him) resembled the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him).
