Silk and gold are forbidden for men
Hadith 698
أَخْبَرَنَا النَّضْرُ، نا بِشْرُ بْنُ عُمَيْرِ بْنِ كَثِيرٍ الْأَسِيدِيُّ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ شَقِيقٍ، قَالَ: أَحْسَبُهُ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، قَالَ: نَهَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنِ الْحَرِيرِ أَشَدَّ النَّهْيِ، فَقَالَ رَجُلٌ لِعَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ شَقِيقٍ: إِنَّ هَذَا عَلَيْكَ حَرِيرٌ، قَالَ: فَقَالَ: سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ لَيْسَ هَذَا حَرِيرٌ، فَقَالَ: إِنَّ سَدَاهُ حَرِيرٌ، قَالَ: فَقَالَ: عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ شَقِيقٍ: مَا شَعَرْتُ.
Sayyiduna Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) strictly forbade (wearing) silk. A man said to Abdullah bin Shaqiq: You too are wearing silk. He replied: Subhan Allah! This is not silk. The man said: Its warp is of silk. Abdullah bin Shaqiq said: I did not know that.
Hadith 699
أَخْبَرَنَا النَّضْرُ، نا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، عَنِ النَّضْرِ بْنِ أَنَسٍ، عَنْ بَشِيرِ بْنِ نَهِيكٍ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ: ((نَهَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنْ خَاتَمِ الذَّهَبِ)) .
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade (wearing) a gold ring.
