Women participating in battles
Hadith 528
أَخْبَرَنَا عِيسَى بْنُ يُونُسَ، نا هِشَامٌ، عَنْ حَفْصَةَ، عَنْ أُمِّ عَطِيَّةَ قَالَتْ: ((كُنَّا نَغْدُوا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، غَزَوْتُ مَعَهُ سَبْعَ غَزَوَاتٍ، فَكُنْتُ أَخْلُفُهُمْ فِي رِحَالِهِمْ فَأَصْنَعُ لَهُمُ الطَّعَامَ وَأُدَاوِي لَهُمُ الْجَرْحَى)).
Sayyida Umm Atiyya (may Allah be pleased with her) narrated: We used to participate in battles along with the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him). I participated in seven battles with him; I used to stay in their tents, prepare food for them, and treat the wounded.
Hadith 529
أَخْبَرَنَا النَّضْرُ، نا هِشَامُ بْنُ حَسَّانَ، عَنْ حَفْصَةَ، عَنْ أُمِّ عَطِيَّةَ قَالَتْ: ((غَزَوْنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ سَبْعَ غَزَوَاتٍ، فَكُنْتُ أَصْنَعُ لَهُمُ الطَّعَامَ، وَأَقُومُ عَلَى الْمَرْضَى، وَأُدَاوِي الْجَرْحَى)).
Lady Umm ‘Atiyyah (may Allah be pleased with her) narrated: We participated in seven battles with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). I used to prepare food for them (the fighters), take care of the sick, and treat the wounded.
