Hadith 497
Sayyiduna Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated: When food was presented to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) in a house other than his own, he would ask: "Is this a gift or charity?" If it was said that it was charity, he (peace and blessings be upon him) would not eat from it, but his companions would eat it. And if it was said that it was a gift, then he (peace and blessings be upon him) would eat from it.
