Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrated: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) traveled during Ramadan, and he observed the fast until he reached Usfan. Then he asked for a vessel in which there was a drink, and he drank it during the day so that people could see him. After that, he did not fast during the journey until he entered Makkah. Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) has both fasted and not fasted during travel, so whoever wishes may fast and whoever wishes may not fast.
