Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to give glad tidings to his noble companions (may Allah be pleased with them) saying: “A blessed month, Ramadan, has come to you. Allah has made its fasting obligatory upon you. In it, the gates of Paradise are opened and the gates of Hell are closed, and the devils are chained. In it, there is a night (Laylat al-Qadr) which is better than a thousand months (of worship). Whoever is deprived of its goodness has truly been deprived (in every respect).”
