Hadith 375
اَخْبَرَنَا عُبَیْدُاللّٰهِ بْنُ مُوْسٰی، اَنَا ابْنُ اَبِیْ لَیْلَی، عَنْ عَطَاءٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ اَنَّ رَجُلًا جَاءَ اِلَی رَسُوْلِ اللّٰهِ صَلَّی اللّٰهُ عَلَیْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ: اِنَّ اَبِیْ شَیْخٌ کَبِیْرٌ، اَفَاَحُجَّ عَنْهُ؟ فَقَالَ: اَرَاَیْتَ لَوْ کَانَ عَلَیْهِ دَیْنٌ اَکُنْتَ تَقْضِیْ عَنْهُ؟ فَقَالَ: نَعَمْ، قَالَ: فَحُجَّ عَنْهٗ.
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that a man came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: "My father is an old man; can I perform Hajj on his behalf?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Tell me, if he had a debt, would you pay it off for him?" He replied: "Yes!" So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Then perform Hajj on his behalf."
