Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrated: In the days of ignorance, Dhu al-Majaz and ‘Ukaz were commercial centers. When Islam came, it was as if they disliked (trading during the days of Hajj), so Allah the Exalted revealed this verse: «لَيْسَعَلَيْكُمْجُنَاحٌأَنتَبْتَغُوافَضْلًامِّنرَّبِّكُمْ» "There is no sin upon you that you seek the bounty of your Lord." That is, (do trade) during the months of Hajj.

Ibn Jurayj narrated: ‘Ata’ (may Allah have mercy on him) was asked about a person in the state of ihram—can he buy and sell? He said: They used to avoid it, until this verse was revealed: «لَيْسَعَلَيْكُمْجُنَاحٌأَنتَبْتَغُوافَضْلًامِّنرَّبِّكُمْ» “There is no sin upon you that you seek the bounty of your Lord.” That is, during the months of Hajj.
