Description of running between Safa and Marwah during Sa’i
Hadith 301
أَخْبَرَنَا مُعَاذُ بْنُ هِشَامٍ صَاحِبُ الدَّسْتُوَائِيِّ , حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي، عَنْ بُدَيْلِ بْنِ مَيْسَرَةَ الْعُقَيْلِيِّ، عَنْ صَفِيَّةَ ابْنَةِ شَيْبَةَ، عَنْ أُمِّ وَلَدٍ لِشَيْبَةَ أَنَّهَا أَبْصَرَتْ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَهِيَ تَسْعَى بَيْنَ الصَّفَا وَالْمَرْوَةِ وَهُوَ يَقُولُ: ((لَا يَقْطَعُ الْأَبْطَحَ إِلَّا الْأَشِدَّاءَ)).
It is narrated from Shaibah's Umm Walad (may Allah be pleased with her) that she was performing Sa'i between Safa and Marwah when she saw the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and he was saying: "The Abtah (valley) can only be crossed by running."
