Virtue of attending the funeral and remaining until burial
Hadith 249
أَخْبَرَنَا جَرِيرٌ، عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ السَّائِبِ، عَنْ كَثِيرٍ التَّيْمِيِّ، عَنْ أَبِي عِيَاضٍ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ، عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: ((مَنْ تَبِعَ جِنَازَةً فَرَجَعَ قَبْلَ أَنْ يُدْفَنَ كَانَ لَهُ قِيرَاطٌ فَإِنْ مَضَى مَعَهَا إِلَى أَنْ يُدْفَنَ كَانَ لَهُ قِيرَاطَانِ أَصْغَرُهُمَا مِثْلُ أُحُدٍ)).
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), he (peace be upon him) said: "Whoever attends a funeral and returns before the burial, for him is one qirat, and if he stays with it until the burial, for him are two qirats. The smallest of them (qirat) is like the mountain of Uhud."
Hadith 250
أَخْبَرَنَا وَهْبُ بْنُ جَرِيرٍ، نا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ بْنِ عُمَيْرٍ، عَنْ سَالِمٍ الْبَرَّادِ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ، عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: ((مَنْ صَلَّى عَلَى جِنَازَةٍ فَلَهُ قِيرَاطٌ، وَمَنْ شَهِدَ جُثَّتَهَا فَلَهُ قِيرَاطَانِ أَصْغَرُهُمَا مِثْلُ أُحُدٍ)) .
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), he said: "Whoever offers the funeral prayer will have one qirat of reward, and whoever remains with it until the burial will have two qirats of reward, and the smallest of these two is like the mountain of Uhud."
