Legitimacy of prostration of recitation; prostration in Surah Al-Inshiqaq
Hadith 125
أَخْبَرَنَا الْمُعْتَمِرُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ التَّيْمِيُّ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ أَبِي يُحَدَّثَ، عَنْ بَكْرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْمُزَنِيِّ، عَنْ أَبِي رَافِعٍ، قَالَ: صَلَّيْتُ خَلْفَ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ الْعَتَمَةَ، فَقَرَأَ ((إِذَا السَّمَاءُ انْشَقَّتْ)) فَسَجَدَ فِيهَا، فَقُلْتُ: يَا أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ، مَا هَذِهِ السَّجْدَةُ؟ فَقَالَ: سَجَدْتُ بِهَا خَلْفَ أَبِي الْقَاسِمِ فَلَا أَزَالُ أَسْجُدُ بِهَا حَتَّى أَلْقَاهُ.
Abu Rafi’ narrated: I prayed the ‘Isha prayer behind Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him), and he recited Surah Al-Inshiqaq and performed a prostration of recitation in it. I said: Abu Hurairah! What is this prostration? He replied: I performed this prostration behind Abu Al-Qasim (peace and blessings be upon him), so I will continue to perform this prostration until I meet him.
Hadith 126
أَخْبَرَنَا النَّضْرُ بْنُ شُمَيْلٍ، نا شُعْبَةُ، نا عَطَاءُ بْنُ أَبِي مَيْمُونَةَ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ أَبَا رَافِعٍ، يَقُولُ: رَأَيْتُ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ سَجَدَ فِي ((إِذَا السَّمَاءُ انْشَقَّتْ)) ، فَقُلْتُ لَهُ: أَتَسْجُدُ فِيهَا؟ فَقَالَ: رَأَيْتُ خَلِيلِي يَسْجُدُ فِيهَا فَلَا أَزَالُ أَسْجُدُ فِيهَا حَتَّى أَلْقَاهُ.
Abu Rafi' narrates: I saw Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) perform a prostration in Surah Al-Inshiqaq, so I said to him: Do you perform a prostration in this (Surah)? He replied: I saw my beloved (the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him) perform a prostration in it, so I will continue to perform a prostration in it until I meet him.
Hadith 127
أَخْبَرَنَا وَهْبُ بْنُ جَرِيرٍ، نا شُعْبَةُ، بِهَذَا الْإِسْنَادِ مِثْلَهُ، قَالَ: فَقُلْتُ: النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ: النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ.
Shu’bah, may Allah have mercy on him, narrated with this same chain, he said: I said: The Prophet (ﷺ), he said: The Prophet (ﷺ).
