Performing wudu for prayer is prescribed
Hadith 122
اَخْبَرَنَا (جَرِیْرٌ)، عَنْ مُسْلِمِ الْاَعْوَرِ، عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، عَنْ رَّسُوْلِ اللّٰهِ صَلَّی اللّٰهُ عَلَیْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: لَوْلَا اَنْ تَضَیَّعُوْا، لَاَمَرْتُکُمْ بِالسَّوَاکِ عِنْدَ کُلِّ صَلَاةٍ.
Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrated from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), he (peace be upon him) said: "If you would not neglect, I would have commanded you to use the miswak at the time of every prayer."
